The Creative Princess: October 2010

FREE Concerts!!

A few weeks ago I go I heard about a concert/conference that was coming to my area and decided I wanted to go.  The event was for moms and daughters, PERFECT!  However!  It was geared toward girls from about 8-12.  Not so perfect.  I still wanted to go but didn't want to be that weird mom there without her daughter.  What to do, what to do.  Plus, I really didn't want to have to pay to go.  Yeah, go ahead, you can call me cheap.  Won't be the first time I have heard that one.

About the time I heard the commercial for the event I also heard a commercial telling me that I could sign up with my FAV local radio station and volunteer at some of their events.  FUN!  The best part?  By volunteering I would be able to go to their events and get in for FREE!  HELLO!

I am sure by now you know where I am going with this.

A few days before the event a mass email went out to all that have signed up to volunteer asking for more people to sign up for THE EVENT I WANTED TO GO TO!!!!!!

I quickly shot an email back and within a few minutes was approved.!  WAHOOO!!  So not only do I get to go to the event, I got to go for free!

I will tell you, I have never worked harder in my life!  Oh my goodness!  I helped with merchandise and not only did that mean set it ALL up and sell also meant take it ALL down and count it ALL TWICE!  I was there from 4:30pm to just after midnight!  This old lady just can't hang that long anymore!  I was plum tuckered out!

But it was worth it!

I was able to still see the show and now know that my daughter actually would have LOVED it!  She may not have understood it all but for the most part, she would have.  PLUS, not only did I get to go for free, I was able to get free product for working so hard!  Most of the merchandise was not very age appropriate for my girls but the cute new Veggie Tales DVD was right up their alley!

So, my point!  If there is a concert coming up that you want to go to but just can not swallow dishing out the $$ for it....sign up with the radio station that is hosting the event and become a volunteer!

May I also say, if you are a mom and have a daughter from 5-13, or 14 or so, GO to Secret Keeper Girl if they ever come near you!  It is AWESOME and the girls will LOVE it!

New Direction....

You know how sometimes you make a decision and it may not have been the best decision for you.  Or maybe it was the best decision for you at the time but now it is time to move forward?

Well, that is where I am at now.

A few short months ago I decided to open my Etsy store up again.  At the time, I thought that was going to be a great idea.  Well, I was wrong.  I still like to sew and I still like to make bows, but just not as much as I once did.  Plus, finding the time to actually sit down and sew or make bows is nearly impossible right now.  But my biggest reason for cutting my losses and just moving on is that my heart is just not in it anymore.

If you are a close friend or family member of mine, or if a close friend or family member directs you to me, I will of course be MORE than happy to make a bow, or 10, or sew a quick something or other for you.

I am going to keep The Creative Princess blog up and running.  As well as my FB fan page.  Why?  Well, I find blogging therapeutic.  Sure, I may not blog as often as I wish I could but when I do I love it.  Plus, I like to talk...a lot.

So what now?  Well, I am still a Coupon Coach with and you can find me on that site almost every day.  I LOVE helping teach people how they can save money on groceries.  I can not tell you how much it warms my heart to hear someone that has been struggling to come back to me after a month of couponing excited because they can now pay their bills, or they can now be a stay at home mom, or they are now working part time rather than full time.  I LOVE helping other people.

The other thing.  I just signed up to be a designer with Willow House Designs.  So if you would like to have a design party just let me know.  Why did I sign up?  Well reason #1 was because my mom wanted me to because she loves their stuff but SHE didn't want to be a designer.  ;)  Reason #2, I need to get OUT OF MY HOUSE and actually have a conversation with another adult from time to time!  lol  Reason #3, I LOVE their products but refuse to pay full price for them!  Must be that Coupon Princess thing.  :)

Now, I am not going to totally close my Etsy store but just moving in a new direction with everything.  I will still do some totally AWESOME giveaway's from time to time on here.  And if I can EVER find some containers for my sugar scrubs I will get some out in time for Christmas!

Love you all!
