Happy Valentines Day!

I hope you are all able to spend today with someone special.  For me, I am spending it with my sweet little family.  I woke up this morning to the girls running in my room with a card and a box of chocolates, followed by hubby with a card.  So sweet!  I love them so much!

Today I wanted to share something with you that I have had for 15 years.  That is how long I have known my hubby.  We met when I was a sophomore in high school, he was a freshmen in college.  I knew the moment I walked in his sisters house and made eye contact with him that cold December night, we were going to get married one day.  Yes, I really did!  We ended up breaking up and getting back together a few times over the year or so we dated back then.  I eventually moved away, went to college, moved even further away and grew up a little.  We started dating again when I was 21 or 22 (sorry, years tend to run together sometimes lol), I moved back to Tulsa (from Dallas) and the rest, they say, is history.  It hasn't been easy, we have had some awful fights, we have both done harmful things and we have both forgiven.  We still argue, but nothing like we once did.  Marriage isn't always easy but it is fun growing and learning with each other.

For my 16th birthday hubby gave me a HUGE jar FULL of chocolate!  Hello!  The man knows how to make me happy!  HAHA!  The candy was eventually eaten but the jar remained.  Over the time we spent together in HS he would get me flowers from time to time.  Then when I moved back, he would surprise me with flowers often.

In HS I started saving and drying the flowers, then I would pick the petals off and place them in the jar.  As time went on the jar got fuller and fuller, to the point that I was only able to save one flower out of each bouquet he gave me.  The flowers have settled a bit over the years and I now have some room at the top for more flowers.  Maybe I will ask him for a new jar this year for my birthday and we can start all over again.

Yes, I am a hopeless romantic.

Strawberries and Cream Instant Oatmeal | Recipe

I don't know about you but, we go through oatmeal like that is the only thing to eat on this planet!   Seriously a TON! My youngest would eat it for every meal and snack....every day....if I let her. Yes, the little packs can be cheap (if you can find a coupon and get them on sale) but it still adds up.  I used things I already had on hand so there was no extra cost to make this.  FREE is ALWAYS good!   I tried before to make little packets to keep on hand but that was a complete fail.  I have since reworked the recipe and am happy with the results.  I decided to just keep the oatmeal in a glass container this time and scoop out what we need, when we need it.  You can also make this into packets by just scooping the desired amount into zip-top bags. {Strawberries & Cream Instant Oatmeal}   12 Servings 6 Cups Quick Cook Oats 1 1/2 Cups Oat Powder 2 Cups Powdered Milk 1 - 1 1/2 Cup Sugar 1 Cup Freeze Dried Strawberries Directions f

Granny's Flitters

I love my family!  There are so many things I love about each person and also about all of us as a whole.  One of the things I love about my family is we love traditions. Today I am going to share just one of the many traditions we have.....FLITTERS! To me when I think of comfort food, I think of Flitters.  It was a special morning to wake up to the delicious smell of flitters frying in the morning.  It is one smell that every time I smell I am brought right back to childhood and great memories. I am not really sure where the name "flitters" came from or if someone just made it up.  I can tell you how it got started though! My Great, Great Uncle Orville's mom (Grandma Cook) baked bread.  On the days she would make extra bread dough she would invite all of her grandkids over for a flitter night.  She would make her bread and then the extra dough she would roll out, cut into strips and fry up for the kids to enjoy.  That tradition was then passed to my
