Weekend Wrap-up 6

I absolutely LOVE this picture!  Daddy and his girls, it's just precious!

Mads did not have school on Friday so we decided to take the girls to one of our state parks {Little Blue} by the lake and have a weenie roast.  We LOVE doing this, it is like camping but we come home instead.  HA!  We usually stay for a few hours but this time hubby had to be at work later in the evening so we did not stay as long.
I am sorry for all the funky lines in this, it is hard to get a panoramic of moving water!

All of the spillways are fully open and flowing FAST!  We have had a lot of rain just to the north so to help prevent flooding they open the spillways.  It is just beautiful!
Hubs got the fire going as the girls and I got everything else set up.  MG helped gather some sticks, Mads was freaked by the bugs.  lol
After just a few minutes it was time to get cookin'!  I LOVE weenie roasts!  There really is no better food this time of year.
As we were eating MG found a caterpillar, it was her new friend.  He stayed near her for a while then went to Mads side of the table and totally petrified her.  HAHA!
Hello friend!  Doesn't it look like he is smiling?  He was a very happy caterpillar.

After dinner, we made our way back to the water to play a bit more.  It was tough getting the girls to leave, they just love it there.  Who can blame them?  It is beautiful!
We actually like to go camping here from time to time.  It has never been too full of people and everyone just keeps to themselves, it is really very peacefull.

Saturday the girls wanted doughnuts for breakfast so we got up and headed to the doughnut shop.  After that we went to a few garage sales then headed to Walmart to pick up things for lunch.  Later that evening the girls decided to spend the night with their grandma.  John and I took advantage of the time and went to Joplin to pick up a few craft supplies and have dinner.  ALONE!  I don't think we have done that in about 3 or 4 years!  If we have I don't remember, which means we need to do that more often!

Sunday I was able to get a few projects done before the girls came home, that was nice.  Both girls decided they wanted to stay home and help daddy in the yard while I went to church.  It was a really good, low key, weekend.

Next weekend is going to be another INSANE one!  Coming up we have, a pie auction, a prom (our nieces last...awww.  Gotta go get pics.), a delivery to make nearly 2 hours away, and a few other things.  Did I mention all of that was on the same day?  Yeah!  So...who is volunteering to come keep me sane?  Oh and lets not forget MOTHER'S DAY!

I hope you all have a fabulous week!!

Much love,
Brandi

FROZEN Hot Chocolate

I am sure by now, most of you know that FROZEN the Movie is coming to theaters THIS WEEK (the 27th to be exact)! I am so excited!! My girls saw some of the FROZEN merchandise while we were at Walt Disney World and that is all they could talk about.....for days! It has been a rough school year for both of the girls so far. Mads is adjusting to being in the upper elementary, was dealing with a bully and gets super frustrated with math (even though she is really good at it). MG is adjusting to actually being in school, went through a time of having accidents at school and she just misses her mommy. To celebrate Mads good grades and MG going a month accident free, I decided to treat the girls with a few fun new toys and some hot chocolate. Once I heard that FROZEN merchandise was available at Walmart, I ran to stock up. While I was there, it hit me! I could have #Frozenfun with the hot chocolate and make FROZEN Hot chocolate! I just knew the girls would love it! I was k

Le Cellier - Chedder Cheese Soup Recipe Review

I first talked about this soup here .   I have to admit, was not real eager to try this soup.  I can not stand the taste of beer.  PERIOD!  It doesn't take much in a recipe for me to be able to taste it.  With that being said, the soup wasn't bad.  I would try it with ginger ale next time though. Before I tell you what I thought of the soup I need to be fair and tell you about some changes I made to the recipe. First, the recipe tells you to cook the bacon just to render out the fats, not to make crispy.  I did not render out enough of the fats and in fact next time, I would cook the bacon until it IS crispy.  I don't like limp bacon, I like my bacon extra crispy. Second, I TOTALLY forgot to cook down the onions and celery before adding the flour!  Ummmm......ooops! So my bacon was limp and my veggies were crispy!  HAHA! Next, I am not on a budget to be able to purchase "Aged White Cheddar" so good ol Yellow Sharp Cheddar it was! I did NOT add one tablespoo

Strawberries and Cream Instant Oatmeal | Recipe

I don't know about you but, we go through oatmeal like that is the only thing to eat on this planet!   Seriously a TON! My youngest would eat it for every meal and snack....every day....if I let her. Yes, the little packs can be cheap (if you can find a coupon and get them on sale) but it still adds up.  I used things I already had on hand so there was no extra cost to make this.  FREE is ALWAYS good!   I tried before to make little packets to keep on hand but that was a complete fail.  I have since reworked the recipe and am happy with the results.  I decided to just keep the oatmeal in a glass container this time and scoop out what we need, when we need it.  You can also make this into packets by just scooping the desired amount into zip-top bags. {Strawberries & Cream Instant Oatmeal}   12 Servings 6 Cups Quick Cook Oats 1 1/2 Cups Oat Powder 2 Cups Powdered Milk 1 - 1 1/2 Cup Sugar 1 Cup Freeze Dried Strawberries Directions f
