Life Is Precious

Late last week I was sitting at the computer reading the discussion about Magic Mike.  Yep, the movie.  It has been a pretty heated debate about why or why not people should or should not see it.

Then.

Then I was reminded that it really does not matter.  MM is fake, it is make believe.  Who cares!

I was reminded of something much, MUCH, more precious than some silly movie.

Life.

Life Is Precious.

We never know when our time will come.

We never know if something is going to happen.

We never know.

Last Friday a friend of mine posted that a daughter and cousin of one of her friends went missing.

The girls are 8 and 10 (or 11, reports vary).

Their names are Elizabeth Collins and Lyric Cook.
Iowa, Missing Girls,
I ask that you stop, STOP RIGHT NOW!  I don't care where you are, I don't care what you are doing.  Just STOP!  Now, please PRAY for these precious children.  Pray for their safety, for their strength, for the courage that they may need.  Pray for their safe return.  Pray for their parents, family and friends.  Pray for every single person that is helping to find these girls.  PRAY!

I do not know these girls, we actually live states away.  I do know one of their friends and I do know that one of the girls is close to my daughters age.  I have been sick all weekend thinking about what the poor parents must be going through.  I just can't imagine.

If  you are close to the area the girls went missing from, help if you can.  If you are not close, you can still pray, you can pass info on, you can look in your area.  The girls could be anywhere by now and I just pray they are OK.  Let's bring these girls home!

Strawberries and Cream Instant Oatmeal | Recipe

I don't know about you but, we go through oatmeal like that is the only thing to eat on this planet!   Seriously a TON! My youngest would eat it for every meal and snack....every day....if I let her. Yes, the little packs can be cheap (if you can find a coupon and get them on sale) but it still adds up.  I used things I already had on hand so there was no extra cost to make this.  FREE is ALWAYS good!   I tried before to make little packets to keep on hand but that was a complete fail.  I have since reworked the recipe and am happy with the results.  I decided to just keep the oatmeal in a glass container this time and scoop out what we need, when we need it.  You can also make this into packets by just scooping the desired amount into zip-top bags. {Strawberries & Cream Instant Oatmeal}   12 Servings 6 Cups Quick Cook Oats 1 1/2 Cups Oat Powder 2 Cups Powdered Milk 1 - 1 1/2 Cup Sugar 1 Cup Freeze Dried Strawberries Directions f

Granny's Flitters

I love my family!  There are so many things I love about each person and also about all of us as a whole.  One of the things I love about my family is we love traditions. Today I am going to share just one of the many traditions we have.....FLITTERS! To me when I think of comfort food, I think of Flitters.  It was a special morning to wake up to the delicious smell of flitters frying in the morning.  It is one smell that every time I smell I am brought right back to childhood and great memories. I am not really sure where the name "flitters" came from or if someone just made it up.  I can tell you how it got started though! My Great, Great Uncle Orville's mom (Grandma Cook) baked bread.  On the days she would make extra bread dough she would invite all of her grandkids over for a flitter night.  She would make her bread and then the extra dough she would roll out, cut into strips and fry up for the kids to enjoy.  That tradition was then passed to my
