Staying Healthy with Walgreens Steps

#cbias, #BalanceRewards
As some of you know, last week was REALLY rough for me! I woke up Wednesday with excruciating pain in my mouth. Thinking it was my teeth, I made an immediate appointment with my dentist. Four feelings later and, the pain was still there. Ugh! So, Friday we headed to Urgent Care where I was diagnosed with a severe sinus infection. Two shots and some antibiotics later, I was on the road to recovery.

Since I needed to go to Walgreens to have my prescription filled, I decided to grab a few other things to help keep me healthy. The doctor suggested I pick up some Alavert to get me through this awful season with as few allergy attacks and sinus infections as possible. I also picked up a case of water (staying hydrated is SO important), a few Luna Bars to get me through the busy days and some Glide Floss Picks that the dentist recommended.

I had seen some signage in Walgreens about the Walgreens Steps with Balance Rewards program so, I decided to check out the app. The Steps program rewards you for tracking your weight and being active. You are rewarded 20 Balance Rewards points when you track your weight, and another 20 points when you walk 1 mile! I earned 250 points just for setting my first goals! That is AWESOME! I love saving money and I am trying to get healthy, seems like a win win to me!

Signing up is super easy! You just enter your email address, select your gender and you are set! It took maybe 2 minutes, most of that was trying to type on my phone. HA! You can also sign up online.

Once you are signed up, a little screen pops up informing you of ways you can earn points. Just click off that and start setting your goals! The one thing I wish you could do with this app is to edit/add what suites you. For instance, I ride a bike, I would love to have that as an option rather than running. Or a way to track how much water I have drank in a day. But I do like the Activity and Weight Loss Goals and have been using them every day.

I can tell this is going to be great motivation for me to continue to exercise! I will update you all around my birthday to let you know how I did and how many points I was able to earn.

Right now you can also enter the Steps to Win Sweepstakes! You have a chance to win daily instant win prizes and a grand prize, a trip to The Biggest Loser resort of the winner's choice. The sweepstakes run until May 31st.

Strawberries and Cream Instant Oatmeal | Recipe

I don't know about you but, we go through oatmeal like that is the only thing to eat on this planet!   Seriously a TON! My youngest would eat it for every meal and snack....every day....if I let her. Yes, the little packs can be cheap (if you can find a coupon and get them on sale) but it still adds up.  I used things I already had on hand so there was no extra cost to make this.  FREE is ALWAYS good!   I tried before to make little packets to keep on hand but that was a complete fail.  I have since reworked the recipe and am happy with the results.  I decided to just keep the oatmeal in a glass container this time and scoop out what we need, when we need it.  You can also make this into packets by just scooping the desired amount into zip-top bags. {Strawberries & Cream Instant Oatmeal}   12 Servings 6 Cups Quick Cook Oats 1 1/2 Cups Oat Powder 2 Cups Powdered Milk 1 - 1 1/2 Cup Sugar 1 Cup Fr...

Today I am posting at Mom It Forward!

Hey guys!  I have some EXCITING news!  Today I am posting over at Mom It Forward ! I have shared my Fiesta Chicken Tacos recipe, it is SO good!  Go check it out!  While you are there, check out all of my other posts I have shared there. The Fiesta Chicken Taco mix is GREAT on nachos as well!  I also made a quesadilla with some of the mix last night and it was AMAZING!  This is also a very frugal meal, the total cost for me was $2.67! Here is the breakdown: Leftover Chicken - Free Black Beans - $0.50 for 1 can Frozen Corn - $0.17 (it was on sale and I used coupons, it was $0.33/bag and I used half a bag) Tomatoes and Green Chilies - FREE (again, on sale and I had a coupon) Tortillas - $2 Total- $2.67!  Now, if you had to buy all of that at regular price it still equals out to a very frugal meal. Enjoy!
