Oven Fried Okra with Kraft Fresh Take

Fried Okra is one of my favorite treats. I never EVER eat okra any other way. EVER.

Until last week.

I just knew there had to be a healthier alternative. I mean let's face it, okra that is battered and dripping in fat isn't really the best thing for you. After checking out what Walmart had to offer, I decided on one of the new Kraft Fresh Take Meal Kits. Actually, I picked up two.
I decided to get the Italian Parmesan and also the Rosemary & Roasted Garlic Fresh Take kits. I love that these kits are very versatile and can be used to make a quick and easy dinner or used on appetizers and/or side dishes. You can find them in the cheese department. While you are in the store picking up your package of Kraft Fresh Take, be sure to check packages of chicken in the meat department for a peelie! The coupon is for $1/1 Chicken Item wyb Fresh Take! This promo also runs until the end of July!
I found the product extremely easy to use! Now that it is summer, I need as much extra time as possible! I found using the Fresh Take kit saved about 20 minutes, compared to making something similar from scratch. All you have to do is open the bag, mix the cheese with the breadcrumbs, add your meat or veggie then place on the pan. Really, it doesn't get much easier than that! I also love that this is something both of my girls could help with. They both love helping in the kitchen and shaking ingredients together in a bag is always fun!

Strawberries and Cream Instant Oatmeal | Recipe

I don't know about you but, we go through oatmeal like that is the only thing to eat on this planet!   Seriously a TON! My youngest would eat it for every meal and snack....every day....if I let her. Yes, the little packs can be cheap (if you can find a coupon and get them on sale) but it still adds up.  I used things I already had on hand so there was no extra cost to make this.  FREE is ALWAYS good!   I tried before to make little packets to keep on hand but that was a complete fail.  I have since reworked the recipe and am happy with the results.  I decided to just keep the oatmeal in a glass container this time and scoop out what we need, when we need it.  You can also make this into packets by just scooping the desired amount into zip-top bags. {Strawberries & Cream Instant Oatmeal}   12 Servings 6 Cups Quick Cook Oats 1 1/2 Cups Oat Powder 2 Cups Powdered Milk 1 - 1 1/2 Cup Sugar 1 Cup Freeze Dried Strawberries Directions f

Granny's Flitters

I love my family!  There are so many things I love about each person and also about all of us as a whole.  One of the things I love about my family is we love traditions. Today I am going to share just one of the many traditions we have.....FLITTERS! To me when I think of comfort food, I think of Flitters.  It was a special morning to wake up to the delicious smell of flitters frying in the morning.  It is one smell that every time I smell I am brought right back to childhood and great memories. I am not really sure where the name "flitters" came from or if someone just made it up.  I can tell you how it got started though! My Great, Great Uncle Orville's mom (Grandma Cook) baked bread.  On the days she would make extra bread dough she would invite all of her grandkids over for a flitter night.  She would make her bread and then the extra dough she would roll out, cut into strips and fry up for the kids to enjoy.  That tradition was then passed to my
