A Day in the Life of a Blogger - It's not all Bon Bons and Gourmet Coffee

Have you ever wanted to go behind the scenes? To see what it's really like to be a Blogger? You wouldn't believe how many people think it's all Bon Bons and Gourmet Coffee. Sure, we do indulge from time to time, but that is definitely not an every day occurrence!
Really, THIS is what the behind the scenes look like. Most days are frantic. CRAZY busy! Don't believe me? This was my day yesterday:

6:45-7:15am Wake up, get girls up, get breakfast in the oven,  tell girls to get up again and make sure they are getting dressed and they somewhat match.
7:15-7:20am Take breakfast out of the oven, plate, pour juice, make sure the girls are eating.
7:20am-7:35am Check bags, write notes back to the teachers, get coats on, head out the door.
7:35-7:55am Drive girls to school, kisses, hugs, encouraging words *GET OUT OF THE CAR OR YOU WILL BE LATE!*
8am Return home, breath for just a second then get in the shower and get dressed for the day.
9am Pick MG up from school for doctors appointment I forgot about. *stink/insert face above*
10:14am Arrive just in time for MGs 10:15 appointment.
11:15am Finally finished with appointment and head to Walgreens to fill the prescription then head to lunch.
12:25pm Head back to Walgreens to pick up the prescription then head back home. Call Mads school on the way to let her know to just come home when she gets off the bus and not wait for her sister. Also stop at the grocery store to pick up Cereal, Muffin Mix, Green Beans and Peas.
1:45pm Finally back home. Hop on the computer to get a few things scheduled out for later in the week. Lay down with MG in hopes she takes a nap....which she never does.
3:15pm Wait for Mads to get home.
3:20pm-4:26pm Work on a few blog posts, get the Make Bake Create post corrected, schedule a few things for later in the week.
4:26-4:45pm Get MG ready for dance, argue about why these pink tights won't do but these other pink tights will. Then argue why I was right about those pink tights because obviously the others just won't do. Where did her other shoe go?
4:55pm Arrive at dance just in time. No, you have ballet today, not tap. No, I am sorry I did not know you were supposed to wear your costume today. Really, I am so very, very sorry.
5pm Mads and I head to Walmart to pick up a last minute costume. Not for dance, for school.
5:35pm Return to dance, sit with Mads in the lobby and work on spelling with her. Then she read me a story for the rest of the time.
6:05pm Return home and start on dinner.
7pm FINALLY eat dinner, oh my gosh I am STARVING. We decided to watch a movie while we ate. Yep, I am that mom. It was just one of those days.
7:45pm Clean up from dinner, girls get jammies on and get ready for bed.
8pm Girls in bed reading/fighting with each other.
8:10pm Bedtime prayers, hugs, kisses, yes you can read just one more book then you really do need to go to sleep.
8:35pm Silence.
The rest of the night, for me, is spent catching up on some laundry, packing a few more boxes, then trying to wind down from my day.
9:35pm Zzzzzz.........

So yeah. I bet that wasn't at all what you expected was it? Some days are better than others, others are crazier than that. Some days I just need a break. I need to just take time for me. Even if it's just 5 minutes before the girls get home.
One of my favorite ways to indulge is with a warm cup of coffee. I recently found a great Mocha Latte from Gevalia Kaffe. I love that I can enjoy this treat without ever leaving my home, or I can make it in a travel mug and bring it with me on those crazy days.
So while being a Work at Home Mom/Blogger isn't ALWAYS about Bon Bons (or Cream Puffs in my case) and Gourmet Coffee, it is fun to enjoy them from time to time. It just helps take you from frazzled (revisit the pic from above) to calm, cool and collected. Even if that only lasts 2.8 seconds.
See, much better after taking a bit of "me" time.

What are your favorite ways to indulge and just take some time for yourself?

If you are like me and enjoy a yummy Mocha Latte, then be sure to print out this coupon, you'll save $1.50! Afternoon indulgence and saving some money? I think I could get used to that!

Strawberries and Cream Instant Oatmeal | Recipe

I don't know about you but, we go through oatmeal like that is the only thing to eat on this planet!   Seriously a TON! My youngest would eat it for every meal and snack....every day....if I let her. Yes, the little packs can be cheap (if you can find a coupon and get them on sale) but it still adds up.  I used things I already had on hand so there was no extra cost to make this.  FREE is ALWAYS good!   I tried before to make little packets to keep on hand but that was a complete fail.  I have since reworked the recipe and am happy with the results.  I decided to just keep the oatmeal in a glass container this time and scoop out what we need, when we need it.  You can also make this into packets by just scooping the desired amount into zip-top bags. {Strawberries & Cream Instant Oatmeal}   12 Servings 6 Cups Quick Cook Oats 1 1/2 Cups Oat Powder 2 Cups Powdered Milk 1 - 1 1/2 Cup Sugar 1 Cup Freeze Dried Strawberries Directions f

Granny's Flitters

I love my family!  There are so many things I love about each person and also about all of us as a whole.  One of the things I love about my family is we love traditions. Today I am going to share just one of the many traditions we have.....FLITTERS! To me when I think of comfort food, I think of Flitters.  It was a special morning to wake up to the delicious smell of flitters frying in the morning.  It is one smell that every time I smell I am brought right back to childhood and great memories. I am not really sure where the name "flitters" came from or if someone just made it up.  I can tell you how it got started though! My Great, Great Uncle Orville's mom (Grandma Cook) baked bread.  On the days she would make extra bread dough she would invite all of her grandkids over for a flitter night.  She would make her bread and then the extra dough she would roll out, cut into strips and fry up for the kids to enjoy.  That tradition was then passed to my
