High Tea Wedding Shower

In just a few short weeks, my beautiful little cousin (the one in white, above) will be getting married. If there is one thing that this group of ladies knows how to do, it is throw a shower!
To celebrate our Meggie, we showered her with love with a High Tea Wedding Shower. Guests were told on the invitation to wear their favorite High Tea Hat. Most obliged and it was so much fun! Some of the guests made their hats, some wore their daughters old Easter bonnets, others bought fancy new hats and fascinators. It was great seeing all the fun hats!
Of course, what shower would be complete without food? I can not thank my mom, aunts and a few cousins enough for helping me so much! We had Strawberry Pizza, Strawberry Soup, Cream Scones, Strawberry and Blueberry Scones, Artichoke Dip, Tea Sandwiches (cucumber, ham and chicken salad), Lemon Tea Cookies, and of course tea, tea, and more tea.
I am so happy for our Meggie! She has grown into such a beautiful young woman, inside and out, and I could not be happier that she will spend the rest of her life with Mr. B. He is such a nice guy! I wish them both the best.
We are all so proud of you Meggie!
It just doesn't seem right! She should still be 4, running around my moms kitchen table acting like a chicken and screaming "Chicken, chicken, bock, bock!", with her long, curly, red hair bouncing along. Where does the time go?
I hope everyone had a great time. I have heard from a few people that fun was had by all. Now, off to put my feet up and rest a bit before we start this whole process over for MGs birthday party this weekend.

Strawberries and Cream Instant Oatmeal | Recipe

I don't know about you but, we go through oatmeal like that is the only thing to eat on this planet!   Seriously a TON! My youngest would eat it for every meal and snack....every day....if I let her. Yes, the little packs can be cheap (if you can find a coupon and get them on sale) but it still adds up.  I used things I already had on hand so there was no extra cost to make this.  FREE is ALWAYS good!   I tried before to make little packets to keep on hand but that was a complete fail.  I have since reworked the recipe and am happy with the results.  I decided to just keep the oatmeal in a glass container this time and scoop out what we need, when we need it.  You can also make this into packets by just scooping the desired amount into zip-top bags. {Strawberries & Cream Instant Oatmeal}   12 Servings 6 Cups Quick Cook Oats 1 1/2 Cups Oat Powder 2 Cups Powdered Milk 1 - 1 1/2 Cup Sugar 1 Cup Freeze Dried Strawberries Directions f

Granny's Flitters

I love my family!  There are so many things I love about each person and also about all of us as a whole.  One of the things I love about my family is we love traditions. Today I am going to share just one of the many traditions we have.....FLITTERS! To me when I think of comfort food, I think of Flitters.  It was a special morning to wake up to the delicious smell of flitters frying in the morning.  It is one smell that every time I smell I am brought right back to childhood and great memories. I am not really sure where the name "flitters" came from or if someone just made it up.  I can tell you how it got started though! My Great, Great Uncle Orville's mom (Grandma Cook) baked bread.  On the days she would make extra bread dough she would invite all of her grandkids over for a flitter night.  She would make her bread and then the extra dough she would roll out, cut into strips and fry up for the kids to enjoy.  That tradition was then passed to my
