Celebrating National Waffle Day with TCBY

Oh yes, if you didn't know by now you are about to.  There IS a holiday for EVERY THING!  This past Sunday was National Waffle Day!  To celebrate my little family had a little Waffle Day celebration with TCBY frozen yogurt.  Yes!  THAT TCBY!

Swoon!

I don't remember when I had my very first experience with TCBY but one of my most memorable was when we were visiting my aunt in Hawaii when I was about 13.  I remember I ordered the parfait, it was new then, and it was good!

Now a days we have those Fro-Yo places popping up all over the place that lets you go in and combine all kinds of flavors and top your creation with all kinds of toppings yourself.  I won't lie, my girls and I frequent them a lot.

I was SO excited when I heard TCBY was now being sold at Walmart!  The Fro-Yo places are awesome but, they get super expensive!  At my local Walmart I can get a pint of TCBY for under $3 and come home and use the toppings we already have.  That pint is enough to serve my girls and I, plus give dad a bite as well.  It costs nearly $20 when all four of us go to a Fro-Yo place.  Eek!

Back to the party!

I decided to get some Waffle Cone Bowls, can't celebrate Waffle Day without some sort of Waffle!  I even made little waffles from cake batter once we got home to add even more fun!

Last week daddy was working evenings so the girls and I snuck to Walmart and picked up cookies and cream and english toffee crunch to try.  We HAD to get more of both flavors again this time plus, strawberry swirl and mint chocolate chip.

I got our table set up to make our little topping bar.  We had M & M's, itty bitty marshmallows, sprinkles (of course), chocolate syrup,  caramel syrup, toffee pieces, and some waffle pieces.

We had a blast and loved all the flavors!  My favorite was the English Toffee Crunch.

Mad's had to have Cookies and Cream.

Strawberries and Cream Instant Oatmeal | Recipe

I don't know about you but, we go through oatmeal like that is the only thing to eat on this planet!   Seriously a TON! My youngest would eat it for every meal and snack....every day....if I let her. Yes, the little packs can be cheap (if you can find a coupon and get them on sale) but it still adds up.  I used things I already had on hand so there was no extra cost to make this.  FREE is ALWAYS good!   I tried before to make little packets to keep on hand but that was a complete fail.  I have since reworked the recipe and am happy with the results.  I decided to just keep the oatmeal in a glass container this time and scoop out what we need, when we need it.  You can also make this into packets by just scooping the desired amount into zip-top bags. {Strawberries & Cream Instant Oatmeal}   12 Servings 6 Cups Quick Cook Oats 1 1/2 Cups Oat Powder 2 Cups Powdered Milk 1 - 1 1/2 Cup Sugar 1 Cup Freeze Dried Strawberries Directions f

Today I am posting at Mom It Forward!

Hey guys!  I have some EXCITING news!  Today I am posting over at Mom It Forward ! I have shared my Fiesta Chicken Tacos recipe, it is SO good!  Go check it out!  While you are there, check out all of my other posts I have shared there. The Fiesta Chicken Taco mix is GREAT on nachos as well!  I also made a quesadilla with some of the mix last night and it was AMAZING!  This is also a very frugal meal, the total cost for me was $2.67! Here is the breakdown: Leftover Chicken - Free Black Beans - $0.50 for 1 can Frozen Corn - $0.17 (it was on sale and I used coupons, it was $0.33/bag and I used half a bag) Tomatoes and Green Chilies - FREE (again, on sale and I had a coupon) Tortillas - $2 Total- $2.67!  Now, if you had to buy all of that at regular price it still equals out to a very frugal meal. Enjoy!
