Showing off our Easter Baskets and #EasterSmiles #Cbias

Last week #Cbias put out the call that they were looking for bloggers to make Easter Baskets and incorporate Colgate Kids items.  I was SO excited!!

We always put a new toothbrush in our stockings at Christmas but never put one in our Easter baskets.  It makes perfect sense though!  With all of that candy it is a great idea!

Soo....off to Walmart I went....ALONE!  WooHoo!  That happens like...NEVER!

I was on the hunt for a special Colgate #EasterSmiles display....I never found it.  Stink!

I did find some pretty flowers though, LOTS of candy, not very many baskets to pick from and tons of eggs.  I decided to get a Dora AND SpongeBob toothbrush and tube of toothpaste, a few packages of candy and a few things I needed for other projects.  To see my entire shopping experience check out my Google+ story.

Once I got home I put everything into a big pile and added some things I already had.  I was very happy with the end result and although I did include some candy, the majority of the girls baskets were non candy things.

Here is MGs basket....

She LOVED her Dora toothbrush and toothpaste and could not wait to try them.  She also LOVED the fingernail polish, lipstick and clippies.  Her little chocolate bunny was a pretty big hit as well.

Here is Mads basket....

She was pretty excited to see the SpongeBob toothbrush!  Her other favorite items were the pinwheel and bath stuff, she said "The Easter Bunny must think I am like 16 or something!" HA!

After our fun Easter morning at home we headed to church.  I am so glad I decided to include the new toothbrushes and toothpaste in their baskets!  I think they each came home with about 30 pounds of candy from the egg hunt at church!

I hope you all had a wonderful Easter weekend!

Strawberries and Cream Instant Oatmeal | Recipe

I don't know about you but, we go through oatmeal like that is the only thing to eat on this planet!   Seriously a TON! My youngest would eat it for every meal and snack....every day....if I let her. Yes, the little packs can be cheap (if you can find a coupon and get them on sale) but it still adds up.  I used things I already had on hand so there was no extra cost to make this.  FREE is ALWAYS good!   I tried before to make little packets to keep on hand but that was a complete fail.  I have since reworked the recipe and am happy with the results.  I decided to just keep the oatmeal in a glass container this time and scoop out what we need, when we need it.  You can also make this into packets by just scooping the desired amount into zip-top bags. {Strawberries & Cream Instant Oatmeal}   12 Servings 6 Cups Quick Cook Oats 1 1/2 Cups Oat Powder 2 Cups Powdered Milk 1 - 1 1/2 Cup Sugar 1 Cup Freeze Dried Strawberries Directions f

Granny's Flitters

I love my family!  There are so many things I love about each person and also about all of us as a whole.  One of the things I love about my family is we love traditions. Today I am going to share just one of the many traditions we have.....FLITTERS! To me when I think of comfort food, I think of Flitters.  It was a special morning to wake up to the delicious smell of flitters frying in the morning.  It is one smell that every time I smell I am brought right back to childhood and great memories. I am not really sure where the name "flitters" came from or if someone just made it up.  I can tell you how it got started though! My Great, Great Uncle Orville's mom (Grandma Cook) baked bread.  On the days she would make extra bread dough she would invite all of her grandkids over for a flitter night.  She would make her bread and then the extra dough she would roll out, cut into strips and fry up for the kids to enjoy.  That tradition was then passed to my
